Been waiting a long fourth dimension for the new Nvidia GPU, and i just got my paycheck,

just i cant really figure out if i should get the GTX 1080.
atm. i got 2x GTX 970 SLI.

Is it worth to upgrade?
$900 for how much more than performance? (Im from Denmark = 25% revenue enhancement)

My GPU's are 2x ASUS Strix
And i desire to become the ASUS Strix GTX 1080

Im using Asus 27" LED K-Sync Rog Swift PG279Q monitor with 2560x1440 and 165hz.

Im kind of tired of the SLI thing. Information technology dosnt support all games, its heating more, and it pretty often turns itseff off. :s

atm the 970 sli is in between the performance of 980 ti and 1080. unless your games run on more vram or you have issues with sli. I personally would non upgrade until 1080ti or the new titan (if they ever make i).

Wait a single carte du jour is always a improve solution than ii. As you lot know there are a lot of bug with dissimilar titles and sli configs. The power consumption volition be much better, equally the overall dissonance (under load). The big downside of upgrading to a 1080 is the hit you are going to have since the 970 prices have plummeted with new ones going for 250 euros in germany (non the strix ). And then if you want to sell them information technology is going to be quite cheap.

Personally i would suggest waiting for the prices to drib a flake. I believe that when some of the stock 9xx serial is sold the prices on 10xx should go down. Too AMD'due south 480 should drive the marketplace into a better identify. Of form, the same applies for the used market :) . 900 euros is quite the toll for a single card. Also accept a wait at mindfactory or computeruniverse if you haven't already.

When you say that it turns itself off, did y'all hateful that SLI manner gets disabled or practice you lot mean the entire organisation turns off/crashes? I accept exactly the same cards that yous do in an SLI setup, with a 1440p monitor, and I have yet to have whatever issues with games being compatible/being able to force SLI to work. I also have no rut issues, fifty-fifty without air conditioning in my house. I exercise accept a water cooler on the CPU, though.

I sometimes have bug with SLI turning off if I turn on windowed mode on a game; SLI doesn't work in windowed fashion, and when you re-enable fullscreen yous accept to sometimes manually re-enable SLI from the Nvidia control panel. I can remember having some trouble with SLI when I had an AMD cpu, but I've since built a new Intel arrangement and have had no more problems that I tin can recall.

Regarding game performance: We know from diverse benchmarks that the GTX 970 SLI functioning is comparable to the GTX 980ti, depending on the game (and the CPU, of course). The difference between the GTX 980ti and the GTX 1080 tin be seen at that place. In that location seems to be a pregnant performance increment with DX12 games, but whether or not you consider that to exist $900 worth of a performance increase is upwardly to you lot. I personally have my heart on 4k as my next jump, and the 1080 only isn't cut it, peculiarly at its current price. Once AMD releases their next cards and once the holidays roll around, the prices should drop to something a bit more reasonable relative to performance.

Even 1070 will perform slightly better and much more than consistently than 2x970 in sli.
Cheque the reviews of the games y'all like to play and see the numbers.
1080 is a great card for 1440p gaming.
1070 is just a practiced card for 1440p gaming

Well 980sli = Gtx1080 +10% .970sli = titan x +fifteen% . Gtx 1080 =titan x +25% .so the actual performance you will get is small but you will max out all games and play at 4k without sli only with a single card(don't purchase the founders editon) besides NVIDIA is using new software on the new 10x0 and they support ameliorate the dx12 than the 970 .so I would sell the 970 s and buy a 1080.
